Based in Langley, British Columbia, Kinetics Drive Solutions Inc. is a leading design house providing innovative heavy-duty drive and control solutions for mobile system applications.

Kinetics has vertically integrated design, engineering, testing, prototyping and small-scale production capabilities which allow for rapid product development and implementation. Kinetics Drive Solutions Inc. is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Technologies Kinetics Ltd.

Kinetics Drive Solutions is currently recruiting for a Network Administrator.

This position is responsible for providing Network Administration and deskside support of the Kinetics Drive Solutions IT system(s). Other tasks relating to departmental operations may be assigned on an as-needed basis.

Key Duties:
  • Desktop/Laptop Devices
    • Provide end-user support to Kinetics Drive Solutions employees (Windows OS, Office, Adobe, etc)
    • Troubleshoot user devices (desktops, laptops, printers, etc)
    • Set-up/Deploy devices for users and periodically clean/maintain devices
    • Install software based on department/user requirements
  • Network/Systems
    • Troubleshoot network connection errors on devices, switches, servers etc
    • Monitor Enterprise software packages such as Corporate Anti-Virus, VMware and ensure that systems are up to date, licensed correctly and working properly.
    • Ensure all workstations and servers are patched monthly
    • Every month check boardroom PC's & peripherals to ensure batteries are good and Windows Notifications are corrected
    • Maintain Kinetics Drive Solutions Intranet Site (using Sharepoint Foundation)
    • Maintain Active Directory (Add/Remove Users)
    • Periodically perform a security audit to ensure that users have proper permissions
    • Create FTP folders & access as needed; Deleting old files from FTP server
  • Backup/Recovery
    • Ensure daily and weekend backups complete successfully
    • Prepare weekly backup tape transfers to off-site location
    • Assist in performing/testing annual mock Disaster Recovery Scenario's
  • Other
    • Create/Edit/Maintain Kinetics Drive Solutions IT documentation such as work instructions, procedures
    • Perform annual Fixed Asset review of all IT Systems
    • Assist IT Manager with
      • Testing new systems, deploying server/backbone hardware
      • Maintaining security/integrity of KDS IT Systems
      • Researching/purchasing fixed assets and preparing necessary paperwork
  • Adherence to Corporate Policies/SOPs
  • Maintain 95% accuracy rate on configuration of devices and user credentials (basically are work instructions followed)
  • Maintain 95% uptime of devices (i.e. printer toner replacement, limited downtime on system deployments to user, etc)
  • Assist in maintaining a 99% uptime of all network devices (servers, switches, etc) during work hours (M-F 7AM-5:30PM)

Requirements:
  • Keen attention to detail with high level of accuracy, ensuring specific steps are followed to complete a task
  • Solid experience with MS Office products such as Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Strong self-initiative in improving work processes and Internal Control
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • High level of reliability and dedication, willing to work on emergencies during non-business hours as required
  • General computing abilities (especially with MS Operating Systems, Office, corporate anti-virus programs, etc)
  • Understands and can troubleshoot TCP/IP levels and protocols
  • Microsoft Small Business Specialist
  • Knowledge of Windows Server
  • Knowledge of MS SQL Server
  • Knowledge of web application security
  • Knowledge of Internet Information Services
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP stacks and functionality
  • Knowledge of telecommunications, network and PC operating systems
  • Knowledge of current network hardware, protocols and standards
  • Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development to support business
  • In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering or related field experience and equivalent Technical Certifications
  • 3+ years of previous IT Help Desk experience
  • MCSE, MCSA, A+ and Network+ certification (preferred)
  • Experience with ERP systems (in particular Navision would be an asset), and 2D/3D modeling and simulation software (preferred)
  • Ability to obtain Controlled Goods clearance
  • Must have own transportation - NO public transit available
