Your Opportunity
The role of a Senior Road CAD Design Technician / Technologist is to work as a team member from small to large-scale projects. Work will include performing a variety of tasks which may include assisting with the plans for structures and facilities such as roads, bridges, railroads, airports, dams, and other projects.

Your Key Responsibilities
  • Uses knowledge of tools and drafting to complete assigned tasks including 2D and 3D model development, developing road designs and completing design changes, general arrangement drawing production, redlining, plotting, and drafting using CAD platforms.
  • Performs thorough quality control (QA/QC) of models and sheet files for standards compliance, discipline coordination, and ensure comments have been addressed by the responsible CAD Technician and others as required.
  • Will work closely with engineers and other senior designers on assigned projects.
  • Mentor junior and intermediate team members.

  • Ability to work with others on complex projects.
  • Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand and maintain CAD standards.
  • Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the team.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary coordination.
  • Working knowledge of Autodesk drafting and design software such as AutoCAD, and Civil 3D.
  • Working knowledge of Bentley drafting and design softwares such as MicroStation, and one of either InRoads, OpenRoads or GeoPak would be a desirable asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft (MS) Office Suite, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam would be a desirable asset.
  • Working knowledge of basic engineering calculations.
  • Basic understanding of horizontal and vertical roadway design principles and concepts would be a desirable asset.
  • Familiarity with City of Winnipeg, Manitoba Transportation and Infrastructure, and Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Standards is a desirable asset.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work under and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills, along with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demonstrate a flexible approach to work assignments.

  • Education and Experience
    Technical degree/diploma/certificate or equivalent in related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of 5-years of experience with greater than 10-years of experience a desirable asset.
