Position: SOCIAL PROGRAMS SUPERVISOR

GENERAL: Under the direction of the Executive Director of the Cariboo Friendship Society and subject to its policies and regulations, the Social Programs Supervisor is responsible for managing, planning, implementing and providing the Society's social and community services. The Social Programs Supervisor will provide direct services to clients as required; coordinate services through referrals; maintaining liaison with community agencies; providing on-going supervision of various programs coordinators and/or staff; reviewing and evaluating on-going services to recommend improvements and changes; and be generally involved in the Society's various programs.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Requires a working knowledge of the Indigenous community both rural and urban in it's history, cultural and social structure; skills in working with people both on an individual basis and within groups; a good knowledge base of management counselling.
  • A recognized diploma in Social Service training or a social work degree or proven experience in a related field with skills as a social worker, counsellor supervisor and administrator.
  • Requires a mature and professional attitude in dealing with staff, clients, agencies as well as the ability to identify community needs and social problems and to assess issues to recommend action.
