ABOUT THE ROLE
We are currently seeking an FTR Trader to join our East FTR Trading Desk. The FTR Trader, East is responsible for defining and transacting congestion trading strategies in the Eastern US markets (PJM, MISO, NYISO, ISONE, and SPP). Financial targets are outlined in the annual Traders plan for the East FTR desk.

This is a full-time salaried position at our head office in Downtown Calgary.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Create and execute a business plan to deliver on annual budget goals
  • Deliver all day-to-day tasks of East FTR Trading including deal execution, deal entry, team meetings, and strategy formation
  • Work with cross-functional teams (Risk, Settlement, and Credit groups) to resolve all trade and financial discrepancies related to the Eastern business
  • Identify and mitigate enterprise risk associated with FTR Trading
  • Guide and mentor junior personnel in analytic support and strategy generation
  • Strict adherence to TransAlta's Trading Compliance Framework


WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU
  • University Degree in Commerce, Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, or Computer Science
  • Minimum five (5) years of related market and trading experience
  • Ability to process information and make sound decisions
  • Effective communication skills with internal/external stakeholders
  • Proven ability to make optimum risk-reward decisions under time constraints
  • Self-starter with good time management
  • Proven ability to excel in a team setting
